Pressure Treated Wood Shake Roof Maintenance

Today the task was to clean tree debris from a pressure treated, cedar shake roof. We manually loosen up the debris that are packed between each shake, and use a high powered leaf blower to get the debris off the roof. The roof is about 5 years old and is in good condition. Keeping the roof free from tree debris will allow it to function properly in the weather to come this winter. We also cleaned out the gutters and power washed the front of the gutters to take off grime and algae build up. Before we where done for the day we cleaned the skylights on the roof for the customer.

What's better than singing in the rain?

Here we are and so is the rain. It's on days like this we really don't mind getting soaked from the pressure washing since we're getting soaked anyway. On the north side of the Columbian things are drab, but the roof we're doing will be anything but. It's a red Roma tile roof today and the finished product is certainly impressive. This type of maintenance is not only great for aesthetics but is also important for proper functionality. When moss builds up on tile roofing it can lead to cracking which leads to vulnerability in your roofs defense against the elements. Check your roof out for any discoloration or moss buildup, you may need to have it serviced.

Wood Shake Roof Repair, Roof Vent Replacement

Well here we are, another day, another roof sealed up tight and ready for months of pounding rain and driving wind. We will be in Lake Grove replacing multiple bundles of damaged shakes that are exposing felt underlayment as well as shakes that are beginning to develop dry rot. We are also replacing 4 roof vents that have cracks in the plastic flange. This is a common problem that is difficult to see unless you are looking for it. These type of cracks can cause major leaks in heavy rain.
