We are starting a cedar shake roof restoration tomorrow. We will be cleaning the fungi and moss off, leaving the wood a clean, cedar brown color. We have fairly extensive repair to do on the southern exposure. Damage caused by ultra violet radiation. The bad shakes will be swapped out and then when the weather dries out we will apply the preservative treatment. The treatment will keep the roof looking great and protect it from premature weathering.

My husband and I had a really hard time deciding what roofing system we wanted to have on our home. We kept going back from cedar and and tile. We realized that no matter what roof we get that at some point it will need restoration. We finally went with cedar and we got some really great tips on cedar roof restoration for the future when we might need it.
